The Environmental Lead will provide environmental leadership across the business at a daily and strategic level.
The Environmental Lead will be the technical expert within the business for the environment, supporting the business on regulatory and legal matters and liaising with the Environment Agency as appropriate.
They will monitor the delivery of the environmental programme which aims to implement environmental improvement projects and initiatives through engagement with managers and technical experts.
The Senior Environmental Advisor will:
· Overseeing delivery and taking a leadership role in the Environmental Programme, monitoring, and setting up projects and initiatives with key stakeholders, to deliver against the company’s Strategic Objective
· Establish a business wider understanding of environmental regulatory, legal, and permitting requirements through new business standards and processes, including a process to manage risk and future scoping of upcoming requirements
· Develop and embed new reporting processes for waste management, packaging and carbon emissions to ensure company wide visibility of actuals and targets alongside a plan to net zero carbon
· Positively engage through healthy tension with the regulator, customers and internal and external stakeholders on regulatory, legal and permitting issues, building strong working relationships
· Advise on environmental issues from a position of authority within the business
· Proactively establish relationships with external stakeholders by building an environmental network, partnering with stakeholders to deliver projects and initiatives
· Direct impact on capital improvement scheme costs
The ideal Senior Environmental Advisor will have:
· Degree / Post-graduate level education in a relevant scientific discipline
· Scientific Chartership (or working toward)
· Significant experience in carbon reporting, environmental regulation and waste management
· Experience of leadership, change management and project management
· Full clean UK/EU driving licence
This role would suit an Environmental influencer who has experience of leading on projects and be knowledgeable of carbon reporting. You will need to have strong influencing skills and be comfortable presenting to the Board.
